Position Summary:
The Inventory Management, Buying, and Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain process, from procurement to inventory control. You will manage the buying and purchasing of products, ensuring optimal stock levels and supplier relationships. Your goal is to maintain a balanced inventory that meets customer demand while minimising costs and maximising efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Inventory Management**:
- Oversee and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and turnover.
- Implement inventory control procedures to prevent overstocking and stockouts.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accurate records.
- Utilise inventory management software to monitor and track stock levels, sales, and orders.
2. Buying and Purchasing:
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with company goals and customer demand.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best prices and delivery terms.
- Monitor market trends and adjust buying strategies accordingly to capitalise on opportunities and mitigate risks.
3. Supplier Relationship Managemen:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Collaborate with suppliers to resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly to ensure compliance with company standards and expectations.
4. Cost Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for inventory purchases.
- Monitor and analyse purchasing costs to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Implement cost-control strategies without compromising product quality or availability.
5. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Generate and analyse reports on inventory levels, purchasing activities, and supplier performance.
- Use data analysis to make informed decisions about stock levels, purchasing quantities, and supplier selection.
- Provide regular updates to the Director of Operations on inventory status, purchasing trends, and cost-saving initiatives.
6. Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with the sales, marketing, and product development teams to forecast demand and plan inventory needs.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of inventory.
- Support cross-functional initiatives to improve overall supply chain efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in inventory management, buying, and purchasing roles.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes and inventory control systems.
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
