There are towns that are built. Brick by brick. Plan by plan.

And then there’s Harrogate, which, if we’re being honest, feels like it just… happened.

A bit of water bubbling up out of the ground.

A few curious locals.

Then suddenly — as if someone had whispered “this might be good for you” — the Victorians arrived in their droves, clutching cups of mineral water and turning the place into a destination.

Fast forward a century or two, and here we are.

A town built on good taste, good company, and the faint suspicion that staying for one drink is a wildly optimistic idea.

So we thought — rather boldly, and with the confidence of someone who’s had one coffee too many — it was about time Harrogate had a day of its own.

What’s happening

For one night, AAA becomes a full-blown Harrogate celebration.

  • Yorkshire music, front to back

From the records that shaped the county to the ones still quietly doing the rounds
  • Local beers & spirits

The kind that make you nod approvingly after the first sip, as if you’ve always known they were good
  • A Yorkshire-led food menu

    Proper stuff. No messing about.
  • Vinyl all night

Because if we’re celebrating properly, we’re doing it the right way — on wax

The idea

Not a history lesson.

Not a formal occasion.

Not something you feel obliged to attend in your “good clothes.”

This is a social.

A gathering.

A slightly chaotic, music-led nod to the place we all orbit in one way or another.

The kind of night where:

You bump into someone you haven’t seen in years.

You discover a record you should’ve known about ages ago.

You say “just one more” at least twice… possibly three times if things get out of hand.

Why 16 August?

Because that’s when Harrogate officially became its own town back in 1884 — finally stepping out from under Knaresborough and doing things its own way.

Which, when you think about it, feels very on brand.

Come in for one. Stay for the town.

No tickets required.

No pressure.

Just good music, good people, and a small, slightly mischievous attempt to give Harrogate something it never officially had…

A proper birthday.

Getting here

AAA Vinyl Coffee House & Bar is located on Cold Bath Road in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, in the heart of one of the town’s best-known independent neighbourhoods.

If you’re travelling by bus, the Number 6 service stops along Cold Bath Road and provides an easy route to the venue from Harrogate town centre and surrounding areas.

Parking is available on nearby streets. Some areas operate Harrogate’s disc parking scheme, which typically allows free parking for a limited time (often between 1–3 hours) between 9:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Saturday — please check local signage for exact rules. Other sections nearby allow parking without a disc.

Look for us near the King Edward VII Memorial Gate, at the top of Valley Drive and up the hill from Sainsbury’s. If you’re exploring Cold Bath Road’s independent shops, cafés and restaurants, you’re already in the right place.

Accessibility: There is a small step at the entrance, but we do have a ramp available if needed. Unfortunately the lavatory is located upstairs and requires the use of stairs. If you have any accessibility questions before visiting, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

All the bits people ask before they commit.

Is it vinyl only?

No! We have a mixture of vinyl and high definition audio.

Is there a dress code?

Nothing formal. A bit feral is encouraged.

Layers, texture, chaos — the kind of outfit that looks like it was assembled in a hurry but defended with confidence.

If it feels slightly wrong, a touch overdone, or like it’s survived a night out already, you’re doing it right.

Do you serve food and drink?

Absolutely. Coffee, cocktails, craft beer, seasonal specials, and whatever secret concoction the bar team has dreamt up that day. And possibly the odd hot bite...

(We make no promises about how “festive” or “sensible” those drinks will be.)

🏓 Can I book a table?

Of course! There is a link in the page to book or reserve your seats.

Remember, tables are limited and only held for 15 mins

Accessibility?

We have a slight step up into the bar which we have a ramp for.

Toilets unfortunately, being an old building, are up 5 steps.

No strobes.

🎫 Are tickets really free?

Yes — but numbers are capped. Grab one... fast...
