What Is Sonic Postcards? A Music, Food & Story Night at AAA

AAA Harrogate

So… what actually is a Sonic Postcard?

A fair question — and one we’ve realised we haven’t exactly made obvious.

A Sonic Postcard is our way of taking you somewhere else for the night.

Not with flights or passports — just records, stories, and something good to eat.

Each one focuses on a different city.

Not just the obvious tracks, but the scenes behind them — the studios, the musicians, the moments that shaped the sound.

It’s not just a playlist

Plenty of places can stick on a themed playlist and call it a night.

This isn’t that.

A Sonic Postcard is about context.

Why did that sound come out of that city?

Who was involved?

What else was happening at the time?

You’ll hear the big tracks, of course — but it’s the deep cuts and the connections between them that make the night land properly.

And yes — there’s food

Each night includes a simple dish inspired by the place we’re exploring.

Nothing overcomplicated. Nothing pretending to be something it’s not.

Just something that belongs in the room.

Think of it as part of the atmosphere — not the headline act, but definitely not an afterthought either.

What it feels like on the night

It sits somewhere between:

  • a listening session
  • a night out
  • and that moment where you suddenly understand a piece of music you’ve heard your whole life

There’s no lecture. No pressure to “get it”.

You can dive in, or just enjoy the music and the room.

Why we do it

At AAA, music isn’t background noise.

It’s the reason the room exists.

Sonic Postcards is about giving that music the space it deserves —

and giving people a night that actually sticks with them.

Because the best nights don’t just sound good…

They stay with you.
